About the Author
Since retiring from teaching high school social studies, Don Thompson performed first-person interpretations of such historical figures as Florida railroad baron Henry B. Plant. He has authored four previous books and resides in Parrish Florida. He is a member of the Egmont Key Alliance. Carol Thompson is a retired fifth grade elementary teacher. She co-authored SEEKING THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE with her husband Don in 2008. In addition to working on two published local history books, Carol has completed a juvenile novel, as yet unpublished.

Sent it to my son in, who is working in England, for his birthday.He go it a month later. BUT he loved the book. We spent a lot of time their doing clean up in boy scouts. Good memories.

I found this to be an excellent book to learn about the history of Egmont Key with much of the information the authors obtained from a woman who grew up on Egmont and knew exactly what had occurred over the years. The authors also obviously did much research into the very early years, 1800's, to provide information for the reader.I first saw Egmont in the mid 50's as a boy while fishing with my dad during a family vacation, after having moved to the area in the late 50's it was not until the late 70's that I discovered what I had seen as a child. Over the years I became interested in the history of the area I lived and Egmont was high on the list of curious places. Well now thanks to Donald and Carol Thompson the authors my curiosity has been mostly satisfied I now need only to go there and walk around.Excellent book if you to, are curious.
Given as a gift to my better half history buff. Really enjoy the history!
