About the Author
Sandra Boynton is a beloved American cartoonist, children’s author, songwriter, and highly sporadic short film director. Boynton has written and illustrated sixty children’s books and seven general audience books, including five New York Times bestsellers. More than 70 million of her books have been sold—“mostly to friends and family,” she says. This is a clever and fun bathtime adaptation of "Barnyard Dance" by the same author. The washcloth that comes with it is not exactly award winning quality, but the rhymes are fun, and my 18-month old (who loves books) had a blast "washing" all the animals in the book; Boynton goes through a whole list of animals that need a bath, and then, at the end kids "wash the duck - and chicken too... Silly Chicken, now wash YOU!" I'd put this book slightly ahead of "Bathtime" by Sandra Boynton, simply because I think this one has better flow and a more engaging activity, but both are good buys for the money. I do recommend storing them open on the counters or towel racks in between bathtimes, though, just to prevent them from molding.
Thought this would be similar to Barnyard Dance which my toddler has LOVED since the first day we read it. It's not even close. Maybe I was expecting too much from a bath book. It also seems to have been designed to be sold as a set with a cow washcloth, which I did not get. The "story" is about using the washcloth to wash the animals in the book. She still likes it, but I feel like I overpaid.
I like Sandra Boynton books. This one is very very simple-- just a few pages, with a few words each. More suited for 1 year olds, too basic for my 2 yr olds.
Adorable! My baby loves washing the animals, and smiles every time we read it. With just a few words on each page, it it perfect for the attention span of my then 6 month old and still a favorite of my now 10 month old. Barnyard Dance is one of our favorite books, and I now get the two books for any of my friends that are having babies!
This book does exactly what you want it to. Your infant/toddler/child can chew, slobber, and get water all over it and it keeps ticking. If they made cars this indestructible we'd all save a lot of money in our lifetimes. Book is great too, but it Sandra Boynton so you should already know that!
This is my toddlers favorite bath time book. He loves the noises you make for each animal and likes to flip through the book while pointing to get me to make the sounds.
My 2 year old loves this book. He takes with him in the bath and to read when he goes to potty which is great cause the book can be easily washed
I wish I had found this earlier. My son is 22 months old, and loves the idea of taking a book in the bath, but it's a very simple story. Wash the duckies, wash the cow, wash you! If I had introduced it around 12-18 months old, it would have been a bigger hit.
