As preparation for my confirmation into the Episcopal church, my priest made this book required reading. "Do not be put off by the teen guide part of the title", he cautioned. How correct he was! In some ways, some concepts in the book might prove to be too difficult for a young teen to grasp.As a fledgling Episcopalian, I learned not only about the liturgy and sacraments, but also the origins and meanings of the various rituals that differ substantially from those I had been raised with in the Presbyterian church. As a lifelong Christian, I learned more about the Bible and how best to study it. I also came away with new feelings about prayer, that are not unique to the Episcopal church.The book was not only educational, but it fascinated me. Having just experienced Holy Week, for example, I learned why the Great Easter Vigil is the most important day in the Episcopal faith. The service itself is magnificent, but understanding its meaning made it even more dramatic and moving.Jenifer Gamber made the Episcopal church come alive for me. Her writing style made what could have been a dry subject fascinating. My Faith, My Life would make a great gift to new Episcopalians and to those who need a refresher course. Father Lou advised me well.

I purchased this book for the four teenagers in my youth confirmation class at an Episcopal Church in California. As I was reading the book, I reflected on my own confirmation class many years ago and discovered the only thing I remember about the class was the teacher's name - not that Holy Confirmation had anything to do with continuing a spiritual journey begun at Holy Baptism. It is my hope that the youth in my class will discover and appropriate for themselves a working lanugage of faith that will sustain them on their spiritual journey. Although much of the content of the book is historical and factual, it also presents the faith journey as a living reality - one to be embraced and lived in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Teenagers have a great hunger for the spiritual life but often flounder in the modern trivia of life that consumes so much of their time and energy. This book will engage their minds and hearts, encourage them to live out their Baptismal Covenant in meaningful ways, be actively involved in the life of the congregation,and be a useful resource for them for years to come.

I bought this book for my 16 year old Godson. Kevin has spiritual depth, has been steadily involved with the Episcopal Church for about five years, and has a jumble of knowledge about the Church. My Faith, My Life is just right for Kevin. It sorts out the Christian faith, as understood in the Episcopal Church, the role of Scripture, the centrality of the Trinity for Episcopalians, the history of the Church, and the common practices of Episcopal liturgy. The language is clear and concise, written with teenagers in mind, in a friendly, easy style. It will be a pleasure to give the book to Kevin.At 183 pages, My Faith, My Life is a well-written, complete, and understandable introduction to the Episcopal Church. While right as an introduction for teenagers, it should prove just as valuable for adults seeking to understand the Episcopal Church. It provides provides the basics, a clear framework for understanding both the spiritual church and the organizational church. The framework should make it easier to integrate the sermons, lessons, readings, and other experiences in the Church into a consistent theology and sense of mission.

This book is really perfect as a preparation for confirmation, but it is by no means for teens only! It is a very readable, comprehensive and well-organized introduction to the Episcopal Church. I very much enjoyed reading it, and the adults in confirmation classes also praised it highly. I certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to know about the Episcopal Church--from whence we came, how we worship, what we believe, how the church is organized, and how we see our place in the Anglican Communion.

The book appeared to be a good buy for my granddaughter. Ir arrived promptly and I hope it was a good selection for her.

If you are looking for an engaging and relevant resource for either middle school or high school youth groups- look no further! This is the best resource I have found and is flexible enough to be right-sized into different length modules. I highly recommend it!

I ordered this book from New Paradigm Books thinking it was the hard cover displayed in the photo, however it was not. Instead I received the Global Edition, which is considered to be the same book just with a different cover. This is NOT the case. I looked up some of the practice problems from the hard cover, non-global edition displayed in the photo, to check if they matched up with the Global Edition that I received; I need this book for a class and imagine that the homework problems will be a main area of focus. The problems I randomly picked, which were throughout the chapters, were mostly the same, but NOT all of them matched up. Many of the units, i.e. velocity speeds and lengths, were different between the problems in the two books. Because of this experience, I am warning those who purchase this book to double check if they are ordering the hard cover or the soft cover Global Edition.The Global Edition does seem to explain things well and the examples given are step-by-step, which is nice. The diagrams and conversion factors provided also help clarify a lot of information.I gave this review 3 stars because shipping was fast (about 6 days when it was projected to be about 2 weeks) and the book was in good condition. Additionally, this is not a bad book based on my skimming through it, but if you require the hard cover for a class, the Global Edition may not work for you, depending on your professor and course objectives. Please be wary so you don't have to exchange the book as I am going to.

I'm taking three "fluids" classes this semester. This textbook is my favorite. I even asked the instructors if I could reference the charts/notes in this book during the test, instead of the official course book... because the references are far superior to the charts/tables in my other two text books.The other books are thicker, and have more explanations. But when you get down to it, as a reference book, this thin textbook has everything I need for all three classes.One of my classmates regrets returning this book for a refund, because he thought he wouldn't need it.

Great textbook, came in pristine mint condition. The book goes through everything my university course is covering & it's easy to understand. I had to return it though, because the Global version's practice problem have different values than the North America version. And when homework is 30% of the final grade, you better have the correct version of the textbook.

Robert L. Mott has done an amazing job in putting this book together. I walked into my fluid mechanics class knowing nothing about fluids and came out with fluid mechanics as my favorite course. This book is easy to follow and everything is pretty much put where it needs to be. The examples are explained in such detail and simple steps that you're able to solve the chapter problems easily. I really enjoyed this book and I know I'll still use it in my future courses.

This book covered everything pretty well. Most of the information presented was understandable and coherent, and the section on pumps was great as well as some of the frictional losses and Moody diagrams (in my opinion when considering the whole book).The only annoying thing was the way they labeled images, questions, and problems... for example problem 56 might refer you to image 65 or something silly like that... why not just stick the image with it and keep the number the same?

The book I received was rebound and claimed to be a 7th edition. After working several homework problems out I have discovered it is not a seventh edition. Many problems were wrong and did not match the 7th edition my instructor or other classmates have. The book was however delivered in a timely manner and looked in very nice condition. It's just not the 7th edition it claims to be.

Beware, not the same as the english edition. Language is fine, just problems are different.

This comprehensive text covereing fluid mechanics by Robert Mott is an excellent means to review basic fluid mechanics. The text, example solutions and diagrams are easy to follow in spite of not having examined the principles of fluid mechanics since the mid 60's. Mr Mott provides sufficiently detailed solutions and discussions.

My son loves these books. We started reading National Geographic Kids books when he was about six (he's nine now) and I can honestly say that these books have been instrumental in teaching him to read. His favorites are those from the "Weird, But True" series. We own the first five books in the series and have the ones not yet published on pre-order.One weekend last spring, our son actually read one entire 300 pg. book from this series to my husband and I over the course of two days - 50 pg.s three times a day until he'd finished. I mention this because last year my son was sent to a reading specialist because his teacher was concerned that he was reading below his age-level. Although I was happy for him to receive the extra attention from the specialist, I always doubted that he had any real problems reading because he read the Nat'l Geo books to us constantly. Thankfully, I was right. He no longer sees the reading specialist, reads above his grade-level, and even reads out-loud to his classmates at lunchtime.Why is this so important? Because kids are often labeled as poor readers when it's not that they can't read, but rather that they simply aren't interested in what they are being given to read. My teen-age step-daughter grew up thinking that she was a poor reader, too. That all changed when I gave her the Twilight Series. She read the last book, "Breaking Dawn," (756 pages) in less than 48 hours!There are several elements that make the Nat'l Geo Weird, But True series so appealing, particularly to elementary aged boys. The layouts are very simple, not cluttered. Each fact is only one or two sentences long. The font is much larger than what you would find in a typical chapter book designed for this age group. And the visual images are excellent - exciting, funny, interesting - they immediately draw the reader in, curious to find out more.As a parent, teacher, library volunteer, and chairperson of my son's Scholastic Book Fairs, all of the books in this series are ones that I have and will continue to recommend for children (especially boys) from pre-K through lower elementary!

My kids love these books! We have the first one and I bought the second and third ones. We haven’t read number 2 or 3 yet because I’m using them as Christmas presents bit if they are anything like the first, then they’re awesome. My kids want to reread the first one all the time. Very fun and interesting!

I am a grandmother and I love to learn things. That's why I love trivia. (Learning small facts about the world around us.) It's just so interesting. I love it and who doesn't want to learn more things,and "show off" a little for other people who end up saying,"that is so cool!",or "I never knew that!!" And it's a fun read for all ages. Buy it and you might learn something....no matter what your age. Good for kids or grownups. Easy to read too.

BEST READ EVER LEARNING SO MUCH HOPE THEY PUBLISH MORE.

We have every book in the series and they are all awesome. Both my kids (6 and 9 years old) truly ENJOY reading them. Then later they hear something that triggers a memory of a random, bizarre fact they read and they say, "Did you know that......?" I'm glad they have these books. They are really educational and fun to read. (I like reading them too!)

We bought these for our 8 year old daughter. She loved them, and all the crazy new facts she learned.

My kids really enjoy this little book. Very informative and funny too.

My 9 year old grangdaughter loves this book series. Easy read that let's her know and share fun facts that a lot of adults don't even know!

I've been following Archana's recipes from her blog Ministryofcurry.com..Her recipes are simple, authentic and Instant Pot has made them easier than ever.Cooking Indian food is time consuming and needs monitoring. But with Archana's simple recipes in the Instant Pot it is possible to enjoy authentic Indian food without the fuss.My favorite recipes are Chickpea curry, Red Kidney bean curry, Paneer and vegetable biryani, Paneer in spinach sauce, cabbage rice (from her blog) and sweet rice porridge.I just received my copy of the book and I highly recommend this book as it has got recipes for breakfast, main course and desserts. She has also included recipes for some accompaniments with the main course like raitas (yogurt based side dish). It's nice to see how she has covered some of the most popular recipes across India.If you are unfamiliar with Indian cooking the book provides information on spice blends and items you need to stock in your pantry. This book belongs on your kitchen counter!

This is such a wonderful cookbook. Being from India, my mother always cooked a majority of these recipes in this book. However, when I was at the age to learn, I would watch her, and try and write down the recipes. It was a palmful of this spice, a smaller palm of this spice, etc., etc. Never did I get the exact recipe from my mother. So when I would try out various recipes I wanted to have, before getting married, there was a lot of experimentation going on in my kitchen. Enter "The Essential Indian Instant Pot Cookbook". Such wonderful recipes, all laid out clearly and easily, and in front of me, and yes I can still experiment with the spices, as my nine year old son, does not like his Indian food 'too spicy', so we always have to tone down the spices for him, but still maintain the taste.The reference at the end of the book is a great shopping list when I go to various Indian/Oriental stores, and make sure I always have the right spices I might need in the days ahead.Thank you for writing this book, and as an Indian-American (yes I am an ABCD) and for those that might not know what I mean ABCD stands for American Born Confused Desi (Indian). It makes all those recipes I tried to learn years ago, a simple task these days!

Only one of the reasons we left England in the first place... You know - TO BE A FREE COUNTRY?? Well think again. The NSA is big brother and this is 1984. They will no doubt be scanning this review. And not like it. And, just what will be next, in the name of so-called security? Losing the right to free speech?Many people are so afraid of terrorists (a fear sadly over-instilled in us by the media and the gov't for their own selfish gains), that they would give up all their rights to privacy. I've heard people say, "Well, if you're not doing anything wrong, who cares if they spy on us, if it will keep up safe?" First, the actions of the squeakiest-clean of people can be EASILY misconstrued. And then you are accused of god knows what, have your life ruined, are carted off to jail or god forbid get rendition. Don't think it doesn't happen.Second, I'm sorry but if you're human, you would not want your private communications displayed for the world to see in the name of a False sense of security. As of this book's writing, what did the gov't get for the MASSIVE spying it did on its own citizens and its allies around the world? Not one shred of information leading to a credible plot on this soil. Still think it's worth giving up your privacy? Of course let's not forget the petty actions of various NSA members and others who read the emails and communications of their spouses and boy/girlfriends. Lovely.Read the book. Then read others on the subject and make up your mind how you want to live.This is the greatest country in the world. It was built on the ideals of FREEDOM. Don't let runaway fear make up your mind for you.Half the people in Congress are there for ego, money and power. They have completely ignored the fact that gov't work is a SERVICE JOB. They are supposed to represent the will of the people. We The People!

I think, overall, this was not a badly written book by any means.It kind of feels like something written from the point of view of the Guardian and their involvement with Snowden and the now legendary encounter between him and their newspaper agency. There isn't much left out to Snowden's story, I felt, in this book either. You get a whole picture of who Snowden is, what he did, why he did it, and a glimpse into his possible future which at this moment I write the review, feels very uncertain. In other words, this is by no means going to be an outdated book in a few years, but rather something that I feel is very relevant to the times we live in. Snowden did what he thought was right, and the debate still rages on as to whether or not what he did amounts to treason and illegal possession of government property, or something that illuminated just much of a reach the government of the United States has into our personal lives via their domination of the digital universe that we all live in. This book explores both sides of the argument, and also showcases a lot of the responses from the key people involved with Snowden's story, from beginning to end.I think my only gripe with this book, and it's a small one, is that I felt at times the book tended to get bogged down with a lot of discussion about The Guardian and their internal struggles that resulted from Snowden seeking to involve them in breaking his story to the world. It just felt a little too extraneous at times, as though 30 pages could've been cut out of this book to make it a much faster-paced read. If you like details though, then you'll have no problem with this book, and I suppose with all the stuff written about The Guardian.All in all, this is an exceptional read. I recommend it to anyone who is curious to know Snowden's story.

Loved reading this to get so much more in depth info on Snowdens personality, motivations and his intricate planning and his thought processes on how he came to feel his NSA work was a violation to the constitution and risking our freedoms as Americans. This book gave much more detailed info than any media source was providing here in the US at the time. Like I had no idea that the NSA was listening to every cell phone conversation of the leader in Germany! I was glad I had read this book prior to seeing CitizenFour as I already had the understanding that glen Greenwald worked at home living in the jungle of Brazil with a family of adopted dogs. I would have never known he was a dog person or lived in such a beautiful setting!! Reading this book really prepared me for seeing the academy award winning documentary by Laura Portra. Read this book within a couple of days. It's disturbing info to digest but I already had been tipped off about the ugly truth like the reason our navy shot down that so called "spy Sattelite" in February 2008 was that it contained too much evidence that the technology used on that Sattelite was being used to spy on the US population not any foreign countries!! I don't feel they were concerned of anyone getting hurt by the Sattelite hitting them or their town! I think they were just covering their rear! I think everyone should wake up by reading this account of the snowden files.
