This book was good at the begining but as it went on it got better and better.As you got to see into each lives you got to know them like they were people you know in your own life.Sometimes you could see the problem someone had and you could see how it worked out to solve it.The ending comes tigether like a good book should.Makes you feel happy that they are happy.Should be a follow up book!

I loved this book - I couldn’t put it down .It’s a very enjoyable read . I read that this is a first book by this Author, Louise Guy in this genre & I saw one more from her that I ordered right away. I hope she will continue to write many more books to come . Thank you Louise Guy can’t wait to read the next one “Fortunate Friends”

This book reminded me a little of the book, Big Little Lies. Everybody lies everyday, even if it is lies we tell ourselves. I love the characters with their problems big and small. Emma with her shoplifting, Louise with her issues, and all the others. I loved read this and would recommend to anyone who needs a dramatic reading. I will buy more books and more of her stories.

This book was just okay. I found it be not very believable. I did enjoy the friendships that formed between the women, but all in all I found the story to be a bit far fetched.

This was a cute story. The plot was pretty light. (although I think the author wanted to make it seem deeper.) I read it easily in a day. I was interested enough to purchase the next book by the author. I have not started it yet.

I read this straight through; it was so good I couldn’t put it down. Such a great story should be made into a movie. Never a dull moment, very good character development. I highly recommend.

Everyday Lies by Louise Guy held my attention with the storyline and character interaction. It is a real page turner.

When an author says God hates people being unequally yoked MORE than he hates divorce, you know you are in for a bit of twisted scripture. Nevertheless, I was still hoping for some sound theology and testimonies of deliverance. A dream about her table running round the house didn't resonate with me. Disappointing. I was hoping for something more insightful. I have read far better books on this subject. This is the only book I have removed from my device as I certainly won't refer to it again.

No doubt discussing the topic of spiritual warfare and demonic influence in all its aspects is desperately needed in the churches. The need for more prevalent prayer lifestyle is needed also. But I found myself wondering and asking repeatedly after reading: Why do I sense there is an appeal to the reader’s emotions more than to his/her heart and mind? More emotionally-charged than necessary. Secondly, I felt the author took too much liberty in interpreting the Greek text and meaning of words, as though belaboring a point. Not enough word study given that would show richness of the Greek text especially with cross references, without making it an academic exercise. The general topic strikes at the heart of life and presence and dominance of evil in the world today in all its ugly manifestations, not to mention its destruction of lives and homes and relationships. Writing is understandably tough, but the flow of the text was overly emotional. Still, prayers for the author. It’s a very touchy subject but badly needed to shed light on it and drive people to the wonderful person and presence of our Lord where even demons submit for they know who is really God more than we do. Blessings!

DO NOT READ THE INTRODUCTION!!I would give this story 5 stars, but the introduction ruined the story by spoiling every secret on the first page, so I have to rate this book a 4 star.The story was gripping, unique, and quite dreamy. I had to know what would happen on each page. I will admit that I was rather upset with having read part of the introduction, because unfortunately, everything the author intended to be a twist had already been revealed to me.

It’s amazing how Shirley Jackson can take the everyday and twist it somehow into a subtle and creepy tale. There’s an element of Gothic in her last book, We Have Always Lived in the Castle. What I also believe Jackson can accomplish so impeccably in her writing---and through her characters and their situations—is leaving an element of subjectivity and the “unknown” within. The reader is often left seeing various pieces of characters and context, but often must make their own conclusions and put some pieces together. To me, that makes for a remarkable reading experience.The basis for this novel is a family, the Blackwoods, whose remaining family members have been ostracized by a small community. We learn why: a terrible tragedy years before—poisoning, it seems—took the lives of everyone of the Blackwood clan excerpt three, Uncle Julian, Constance, and the narrator, Mary Katherine(aka “Merricat”). Constance was suspected, but ultimately acquitted of the poisoning. Living a life mainly of alienation away from the whispers of this town, the Blackwoods are able to manage. Merricat believes in such things as omens, and is vastly different compared to her sister, Constance. Uncle Julian is an invalid because he did have a bit of the poison that claimed the other Blackwoods’ lives, but not enough to kill him. This is a book that is difficult to reveal too much about plot without spoiling, but, when a certain cousin Charles suddenly arrives to the Blackwood home, the plot thickens.We Have Always Lived in the Castle is very reminiscent of Jackson’s short story “The Lottery” in its themes of mob mentality. As the remaining family members by to go about their lives, they are often the subject of subtle and not so subtle taunts and threats.There is a brilliantly atmospheric vibe to this novel. My feeling is that Shirley Jackson is incredibly underrated as an author, not being given quite the accolades she deserves. This book is one such example of her genius, an expertly crafted eerie tale with brilliant prose. It is a perfect book for a Halloween night.

I now want to read everything Shirley Jackson has ever written. Her last novel, We Have Always Lived in the Castle (published in 1962), is a dark and cool period mystery, following the wealthy Blackwood family in what seems like a century old New England. It’s hard to tell how old the narrator, Merricat Blackwood, is, or what her mental state reveals. She’s odd for sure, mad maybe, with a sharp eye for detail, and a shocking family tragedy in her past. The other main characters are her beautiful and mild elder sister, Constance, an elderly ill uncle Julian, and a motley cast of villagers and other high born. Very detailed instructions and photos covering every aspect of bread making from prep and equipment through to the finished product. I learned so much from reading this book! Highly recommended for anyone tearing to bake the perfect loaf.

More technique than recipes

Very pleased with the step by step instructions and explanations as to why they are important.

Very technical with some long tangents, but in the end, the photos and descriptions helped me to put out a much better bread product at home. Only 4 recipes in this book, so it is really a book to learn techniques in how to make a good loaf of of bread.

Details that every bread baker cares about and is looking for. Great recipes, directions and tips. This one is a keeper.

This book is a great book for the novice bread baker. There are not a lot of recipes but it explains each step in the bread making process so a beginner can make great bread of any kind. If you are an experienced baker you won't get a lot out of this book.

Always enjoy reading about a possible better bread recipe especially sourdough.
