Not bad, has some lamps not usually featured in other books but is sort of a copy of the Taschen book on Tiffany. Could featured more unusual and rare lamps. For example, the famous venetian lamp is not featured.

This edition strikes just the right balances on: size (small enough to hold, big enough for picture detail); photographs and text; detail and overview. Very pleased

This products is deceiving. I thought I was buying 2 lamps but instead it was 2 books about lamps!!!! Buyer beware.

When The Lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany was first published in 2005, I very much wanted a copy, but balked at the publisher's $75 retail price. Imagine my delight when I learned that the publisher had reissued THE LAMPS OF LOUIS COMFORT TIFFANY in this smaller-format hardcover edition at a much more affordable $35 retail price! (Both editions are available for less than full retail price on Amazon.) This smaller-format edition of the book is 10.4" x 8.7" x 1" and weighs 3 lbs.--in contrast to the original edition, which is 12.3" x 10.1" x 1.1" inches and weighs 4.2 lbs.The photographs in this smaller-format book are gorgeous, and I doubt that either the photos or the text have suffered much, if at all, from the downsizing. In fact, the less-hefty book is much easier to handle, if you're interested in actually reading the text, or in studying the lamp photographs closely.What I like most about this book is that it shows the complete lamps: the lamps have both the Tiffany glass shades (e.g., Wisteria, Daffodil, Cobweb, Dragonfly) and the elaborate, organic, metal bases that Tiffany created to perfectly complement the shades. I also love the close-ups of portions of the shades, which reveal the qualities of the individual glass pieces that went into the shades. And I enjoy inspecting the various photos of the Tiffany workshops, the Tiffany craftspeople, and Tiffany's homes.The book includes three background articles: "Tiffany's Studies of Lighting" by Martin Eidelberg; "Nature Is Always Beautiful" by Martin Eidelberg; "An Alliance of Arts and Crafts: Creating a Tiffany Leaded Shade" by Martin Eidelberg and Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen. However, the bulk of the book consists of a photo gallery of beautiful Tiffany lamps, with each lamp discussed in scholarly but readable commentary: "Important Lamps by Louis Comfort Tiffany: Lamps selected by Nancy A. OK. I appreciate what the other reviewer mentioned about thinking critically as you use a volume such as this. That is 100% true. However, how does that reviewer know that the TDNT misses the first century meanings of New Testament words. Sure, some words change in meaning quickly, but that doesn't mean they all do or that TDNT is unfaithful to the first century meaning. Use caution, sure; but don't throw this whole 10 volume set out because getting to the meaning of words is difficult. Come on...

This is really the most comprehensive explanation of the Greek word's in all the world.Every Pastor should have the full 10 volume set in their Library , of course if they do not know Greek it will not help them.

For more than three decades the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament has been my go-to reference when doing serious word study. The volumes contain a comprehensive study of the way words are used in the NT, and reference is also made to the use of these words in the LXX, Josephus, Philo, and the Church Fathers, among other sources. Volume 6 contains entries for words beginning with Pi Epsilon to Rho. (Words beginning with Pi Alpha can be found in Volume 5.)If you are building your set a volume or two at a time, pick up Volume 10 as soon as possible. This volume contains many indexes that are invaluable in helping find what one is looking for. Included are indexes of English Keywords, Greek Keywords, Hebrew and Aramaic Words, as well as an Index of Biblical References (including the Apocrypha).

I gave 4 stars to this book, because the author is not reflecting the reality of clinical practice. For example, students who have good academic grades necessarily would succeed in clinical settings. From my practice, it is opposite -they get lost, and have problems to connect the academic knowledge with hand on experience. For that reason it seems to me that the author has very minimal practical and clinical experience that leads to misinforming students, professors and instructors about evaluation process.

Great buy. Very helpful for those in school to become a nurse educator or nursing professor. Goes into details about both classroom testing strategies as well as clinical evaluation methods.

Very useful book. I am enrolled in a Master's of Nursing Education program which required this.

Easy to understand, gold mine of information for nursing educators. I think this should sit right beside the Billings book in importance on your shelf.

although out-dated only in that there are always new varieties being introduced annually, there still remains an enormous amount of excellent detailed basic plant structure, growth and performance information that is so very useful whether you are considering a single or multiple hydrangeas. Though there will always be a 'new' color to consider, the basic knowledge within these pages is so beneficial.

I'm a big gardener, and as gardeners know, if you are working with a new genus or group of plants, you really need a specialized book, with good photos. This is when the "Gardening Encyclopedia" simply won't do. I recently moved to the No. Georgia mountains, and this is "Hydrandea Heaven", a group of plants I knew little about. Already, I have several types, and needed information. This book is clear, complete and practical, and has taught me all I need to know. It's now in my gardening shelf and I've not only read it, but refer to it quite often, along with others I have on my other favorites such as one on lilies, another on azaleas, etc. If you're "into" hydrangeas, you need this book.

If you love hydrangeas, look no further because this is THE BOOK to buy. I have become something of a hydrangea enthusiast, but I have a lot to learn when it comes to plant care and varieties. After an exhaustive search for the right guide, I was discussing different hydrangea varieties with the owner of a local nursery. She pulled out her well worn copy of this book, and together we came up with a long list of varieties for me to add to my wish list. I ordered this book the minute I got home, and I haven't been disappointed. My favorite thing about this book is its varieties list in the back. This is incredibly helpful if you're looking for particular colors, types, etc. This book also discusses general care, soil pH, plant division, and pretty much anything else you'd want to know about hydrangeas.

I had the same reaction that Newton did to both this book andDirr's book on viburnums. There is a wealth of information available in the book but it is so bogged down by it's unorganized presentation that it's very hard to sift through. At times the writing seems very much like a copy of the writers journal notes. A good tech editor and better organization is definitely needed.I was disappointed to find that the book has so many plant discussions on the macrophyllas but limited information on arborescens and serrata. Being a novice with hydrangeas it's difficult to determine if this because there are limited cultivars of arborescens & serrata, if I'm just so bogged down in the information presented & not finding it, or if this is only because as the writer pointed out, macrophyllas are his favorite.Last I think it's great that Dirr included information on the breeding history of some of the crosses that lead to the cultivars we see today, but I think it's not useful in this book. Maybe as a article in a scholarly journal would be better.I am still sifting through this book, and may possibly update this review. But right about now I am glad that I purchased the book used instead of at full price.

Dr. Dirr's books are always great additions to the library: well presented, graphically excellent, and with good information. As I have said with others of his books, I personally consider them to be additions to rather than a foundation for a good library on gardening. These are books that I like to own and find them to be wonderful, appreciated gifts for my Master Gardening friends. Many of his books have been written some time ago and I think that the publisher has changed. Dirr mentions the availability of a vast picture trove he took for this book. It does not appear to be available and he is not to be found, at least in my searches. If an extra book is in your budget, a book by Dirr will not disappoint.

I'm a professional gardener with a horticulture background and it was so refreshing to hear Michael Dirr's evaluations of the different hydrangea species and cultivars. The gardens I care for have some dense plantings of hydrangeas and I picked this book up to get me excited about taking care of them again. In alot of ways this book was successful. Its helpful in some general identification of different cultivars and it discusses the pros and cons of different varieties. It was good to read something that had opinions and some science to back it up too.
