Glenn Whitman directs the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning at St. Andrew's Episcopal School where he also serves as the Dean of Studies for grades Preschool through 12th grade and teaches history. Glenn is a former Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence Fellow and author of Dialogue with the Past: Engaging Students and Meeting Standards through Oral History as well as co-editor of Think Differently and Deeply, the national publication of the CTTL. Glenn has also written numerous articles on translating MBE research into classroom practice such as, “Assessment and the Learning Brain” that can be found in Independent School magazine. He is also a blogger for Edutopia. I have recently purchased this book, at another outlet by chance, and am highly pleased with its content. If you want to throw a party with great drinks with even greater names, fabulous finger foods - or have a small dinner with appetizing results, invest in this book. I was so excited, since my life now revolves around hosting, to find a book that is immaculately put together and will not hurt the bank. The only thing I can not believe is that I hadn't found this book sooner. Why is it hiding on amazon? This book should be advertized more.Suggestion: Use this book to organize and throw a fabulous party, and at said party, hand out a menu with a list of the names of these drinks. The guests will not know what to do with themselves and I promise it will garner an oustanding response from the revelers. You may never get to go to sleep ;)Enjoy.

With fifteen years of beverage catering all over the world under my belt, I can assure anybody considering this book: buy it! Planning parties always involves lots of stressful details, calculations, planning, and organization that make the process a headache rather than a joy. This book does the opposite, thankfully. Miss Charming helps anybody from a pro to a home enthusiast handle everything without forgetting about the fun and creativity that every cocktail party should have. It's a fun, easy read packed with useful information including resources, recipes, and helpful hints. The recipes are great and well-written, unlike most cocktail recipe books which confuse even the most seasoned bartender with vague procedures and obscure ingredients and feature lots of unpleasant recipes that nobody drinks these days. Not this one: Cheryl explains in plain english every delicious recipe so your cocktails come out perfect. The hints and tips she provides are worth the price of the book alone. (Do YOU know how much ice you need for a party of 100 people? This book tells you!) This is the book that will save your next party and make you look like a genius. I have two copies... one on the bookshelf and one for reference I keep with my catering gear. Cheryl is the Martha Stewart of the bartending world.

I received it yesterday thank u. I order this to study for the MBR/mblex test. I've been looking for platysma muscle on this for the.last few hours. It doesn't list all the origins and insertion point of every muscle. Platysma is one that you won't find on here. Luckily there's Google. Font for the wording makes it harder for me to find the names fast.

Its an 8x10 page and it is clear and easy to read. i'm so excited. my friend has one and she said if you use a vis a vis marker on it, it may not come off all the way. i wasnt planning to mark on it at all, but figured it may be useful info to someone. so excited to use this!!

This is a great reference material to quickly catch up on some info. It helped me pass my TEAS and get in to a Nursing program.

These come in handy more often then I imagined. Especially during my studying hours for my mblex! They are small enough to fit in a binder, also big enough to hang on your wall for a quick run through. Definitely worth the money!

Font hard to read and the anatomical names did not tie to the textbook I learned from. However it was nice supplemental info. to get the "big picture" down.

I was hoping for a quick guide to look at, but you really have to study it to know what you are looking at. Each muscle is written on the sides and then the origin/insertions are in blue/red. You have to already know your stuff really well, don't get it as a review for the MBLEx, that's what I wanted it for...it won't help.

I bought this thinking I would need something to reference more but I haven't really used it at all. I'll keep it and see if I have a need, but I found other study materials that better suited me. Depending on your class and requirements for learning origins and insertions of muscles you may find this more handy.

This guide while handy is really hard to understand. If you have no idea about muscles do not start with this guide. The origins and insertations are kind of hard to distinguish unless you have prior background knowledge.

They're good looking souvenirs and they contain a few highlights of the exhibit, but there's little real value.As a Lynch fan, I've heard most of these anecdotes before. The book just buffs up the greatest hits.There is sparse but legitimate insight into creativity, meditation, and film. At first I thought it was a zen thing, but no, there's just not much here.I recommend it, only I expected much more.

I should start off my review by saying that I enjoyed this book and would recommend it highly. I purchased this book partially on whim after hearing verry little about it. I've always been fascinated by art and have been a musican since I was verry young. Recently I've been creativity frustrated and have been branching out into various adventures from exploring more interesting film to starting a modest meditation practice.I recived my copy of the book after getting off work and finished it verry quickly. It's a verry easy read, its only 180 pages and around 80 something chapters. Each of the chapters explore various topics from film makers David Lynch admires to his meditation practice. This book feels like sitting down with David Lynch for an evening and just enjoying his unique perspective of the world. I treasure this book and it has inspired me.

Overall, it was a good book, but it is a reallyquick read. Easily read the whole book over a weekend.If reading because want to know more about Transcendental Meditation, you will probably want to get an additional book or 2. It is interesting to hear David discuss TM, his TM foundation, and interview others who practice TM, but if looking for a better understanding of the latest Scientific research on TM, probably want to pick up the book that David said was “the best-ever book on on Transcendental Meditation”. Book is Transcendence written by Doctor Rosenthall.That said, reading David’s book has motivated me to re-watch his films/show. Interesting to watch Twin Peaks after reading this. Main character meditates, and can see how ideas expressed in this book are sprinkled throughout the show.

This book has a lot of interesting information in it. David Lynch talks about his experience with Transcendental Meditation and its positive effects on him. He also talks about his strategies for living a life as an artist. And there are several different pages about the movies he's made, the actors in them, and his thoughts on film in general.His biggest points are the importance of healthy living, the importance of meditation, and being your natural self. His advice for creativity, I thought, was pretty helpful for just about any artistic medium.The book is pretty short. It doesn't go super in depth into any one topic. Mr. Lynch spends about a page or two on each idea. It's really interesting to hear everything in his direct voice, but some more detail would have been nice.I loved how positive David Lynch seemed in the whole book. About the biggest thing I took from the book was his advice on being healthy yourself. He says, for an artist, you have to understand things like depression to create conflict in a story. But, if you, yourself, are depressed, it will be very hard to create. So he suggests different ways throughout the book to keep yourself healthy and still make art.This was a great way to see into David Lynch's world through his own words. There's lots of great words, advice, and information, but it is very brief. But, if you're interested in David Lynch and his approach to life strategy, it's a great book.

As a professional artist, I was really curious to find out what the esteemed Mr. Lynch had to say about the creative process. I really respect his work and admire his talent. This book is filled with fun anecdotes and a few gems of insight but mostly it reads as an ad for Transcendental Meditation. It seems over 40% of the book is him talking about how he loves TM. I was so intrigued by his passion for TM that I attended an intro lecture in town.....which ultimately turns into a sales pitch for meditation instruction for....wait for it....$950!!! Why is it so expensive? Smells fishy to me.

Lots of nice little passages on various topics mostly having to do with Lynch's career and meditation. If you're a fan, it's great. If not, I'm not sure you'll get much out of it.

I read some of the reviews and was curious about David Lynch's connection with meditation and his creativity. I'll admit I have only seen one Lynch product (Blue Velvet) which I found to be an excellent though bizarre film. The book kind of goes through his thoughts on life, meditation, making films and creative methods. It is a short read and feels like reading someone's thoughts that are jotted down in no particular order. I guess I was looking for a book that would really getting into the hows and whys of Mr. Lynch's creative process and meditation method vs. short thoughts, feelings and opinions. I guess if you are a huge fan of Mr. Lynch this book would give you bits and pieces of his thought process. Overall, I thought the book was just o.k.

.... this reconsideration with the design treatment of Katy Homans adds her color and snap to what I consider an extended formal exercise by Friedlander. Funny to say, given the subject matter but I see much greater involvement and depth in his urban landscape and his treatment of fauna, in the natural environment and that cultivated. Yet, it is Friedlander and even with some debt to Brandt and Sheeler (surprisingly), the book is beautiful.

"Nudes" by Friedlander was first published 2o years ago--this new expanded edition contains most if not all of the original pictures, plus a few more.As a healthy hetrosexual male, I've given up on trying to justify why I find naked women attractive, or why I find myself unable to look away from images of them, so I usually try to avoid looking at them. But these pictures are something more--female bodies, unretouched, glorious in their curves and blemishes. The women seem to be comfortable in front of the camera, like cats in the sun. While there isn't a whole lot of detail about how these pictures were made, in at least one picture, the reflection of another woman shows, indicating that even though the photographs were made in the homes of the young women, the sessions were, it appears, very much under controlled conditions. Worth remembering is Friedlander's interest in Bellocq, who photographed prostitutes in New Orleans a century ago--the women in these pictures are not accused of having loose morals--to the contrary, they appear very much in control of their own bodies, their own selves. Their bodies, lovely in their youth, are full of mystery. Pure Friedlander.

Beautiful collection of B/W photos of female models, up close and personal. Few look at the camera. Engaging. Includes some with sun tan lines which are delightful, all natural.

Welding is a hobby of mine and I always have my eye out for new ideas. I thoroughly enjoyed this book looking at all the beautiful metal pieces that I have never seen before. Not sure I can duplicate any but liked it so much I'm giving a welding friend a copy.

I got this book as inspiration for my husband. It is definitely that. I wish it might have been a little longer and the kindle version more magnified for easier viewing.

True craftsman both metal and words. Pleasing to eye and cerebellum . Work very linear, flows so elegantly across the page.

Who knew that blacksmiths can create such amazing art? I would be pleased to have many of these pieces in my garden.

David Freedman has written a couple of articles for the O&MM Fabricator magazine. His descriptive writing and talent in the metals industry is astonishing. I recommend reading anything David Freedman writes!

I bought this book in England, I can honestly describe it as a treasure.Beautifully illustrated throughout with stunning photography.Enduring art that fits beautifully within its setting.Highly recommended as a good read too, with an in depth look at the creative process from start to finish.

David Freedman has created and excellent addition to your art or blacksmith book collection. The photos of his sculpture pieces range from the late 1990's to 2015. This is not a "How To" book but more a photo essay of his work and inspiration. I am quite pleased to add this book to my collection.

A superb book showcasing the work of the very talented David Freedman. Nice cross section of work, also gives an interesting insight to how these inspiring works of art are created. An essential book for anyone interested in current British art and design.
